I have a timing cover for the new motor sitting around and its showing its age with a little dirt, rust, corrosion etc etc.

Would it be OK to spraypaint this cover with a few hundred degree engine enamel and then clearcoat it?

Anything I should mask off on the cover where paint would be harmful?

Thanks,

Zach

I painted mine years ago with high temp engine paint. This time around I powder coated it :) Mask off the gasket area for the water pump and you should be fine.

what do you have off the timing cover?? water pump and the oil pump. if so i would tape those areas off. and the cps hole too. i have painted mine. and it looks good. i used VHT 500degree paint. also take out the front seal. you need to replace it anyways. you could tape that hole off too.
