What exactly does that mean? Are you reinforcing them with more steel or just laying down stronger welds? Has anyone actualy "broken" a TQ box?

yah.. someone explain the whole torque box thing. how good of a 60 ft do you have to get to screw the stock ones up?

the torque boxes are what the control arms bolt to under the car, they are basically just tack welded to the car and not very strong, not sure what kind of power or torque would rip them out, but if you have the power and you HOOK hard they can tear, many people just weld up all the seams on the boxes to strengthen them, but you can also buy stronger torque boxes and weld them in as well.

ok short and simple. weld every thing that you can. all the seams in the upper and lower tq boxes. also reninforce the upper and lower tq boxes with some steal. you put the steal on the bottom of the lower tq boxes. and put the plate on the backs of the upper boxes. weld all the seams that meet the upper boxes to the floor pan. this is about the weakest part of them. but well up everydang seam that is back there. it can't hurt them. just make sure that you have the back seat pulled out. and someone in the car with a water bottle. so that if you do start a fire they can put it out fast. also a 5spd car hits the tq boxes alot harder than a auto car does. so 5spd users need to worry more than auto owners.

To elaborate on sproat's reply, the chassis side of the lower control arm is
held in but 1 bolt (see pic). The driveshaft side bolt hole is very strong
because its the framerail wall. The side skirt side bolt hole is weak, it is
just held in by some tack welded brackets.
