Well a “Mustang” friendly guy at Ford told me my transmission needs to be rebuild, he says it will cost like $400-$600 on parts, like he wants to replace the torque converter which he says is around $250 and with his labor it will cost around $1000-$1300 depends on what is really happening internally. I have a 98 automatic with 97,000 miles, I bought the car new in 98.
So I guess I have a few options/questions.
1. I am assuming that only a 94-98 transmission will fit on my 98?
2. If down the road I want to do an engine swap to a v8 is there a transmission I could put now for this?
3. How much is a brand new transmission.
4. Is it worth gambling a used transmission and putting a used one in.
This is such a P.I.T.A.
