Well i had thought that my clutch cable snapped because i can't get into gear. I bought the cable , installed it , and i still can't get it to go into gear:mad:
I have the steeda quadrant adj w/fire wall adjuster and i'm still unable to get this bastard into gear. The clutch wasn't showing any real signs of wear. The only small things i can think of are the metal door thats on the trans to view the clutch fork broke off like a month ago. Could water have siezed up my TOB possibly??
Before it went crappy on me the clutch pedal was getting harder and harder to depress and the pedal was vibrating alot.
Anyone have any ideas what possibly could have went that would not enable the clutch to enguage.:(

Ok so you don't have any pedal pressure ?

Sounds like the pressure plate is bad......

^--- Either that or his adjustments are off.
On what tooth of the quadrant is the cable?

It would have to be on the very back tooth (closest to firewall) and the firewall adjuster would have to be all the way in for it to have no pressure - assuming a good pressure plate.
That's odd. Only other thing it could be is a bad pressure plate.

Yeah, it sounds like the fingers are either bent or broken....

Also - another possibility - the throwout bearing might not be in the shifter fork anymore... it's possible it could have worn out the retainer and/or the arm and pulled through somehow. Get a flashlight, remove the clutch arm shield, get a flashlight in there and look and see if the bearing is still attached properly.
Next thing to check: get under the car, manually pull on the clutch arm with the cable disconnected. If you can pull it by hand, it's in the clutch assembly, not the cable/quad/adjuster. If there is resistance and you cannot move it by hand, then there's something else going wrong in the quad assembly (you already replaced the cable)
I'm putting $$ on the clutch assembly though.

I'd just move the clutch arm with a pry bar and see if it opens the clutch. Put the rear axle on a set of jack stands, with the trans in gear let someone try to roll the wheels while you push on the clutch pedal and then again push the lever with a pry bar. If the wheels will turn then you have successfully opened the clutch (this will tell you if the problem is with the cable or inside of the bellhouseing). If that doesn't get the clutch opened then it really doesn't matter what's wrong because it will be something inside of the bellhouseing and anything in there won't get repaired without removeing the trans. So get out the tools........

Thanks for all the idea's. I'm going to pull the car into the garage in a few mins.
So far with the steeda quad and firewall adjuster i have it set on the hook closest to me , and i have the firewall adjuster all the way out. and still nothing

Well i got the car up on jack stands and peeked inside the clutch fork window. First i tired to move around the fork and well it pretty much just jiggled everywhere. Upon more inspection it seems that the TOB is destroyed!!! Pix up later. But i hope to pull everything tomorrow and i'm hoping thats the only problem.
I have a spec stg 2 clutch kit in there and its only been in for 20k miles.
on a side note, what is the metal cover called that covers the clutch fork???? because mine is completely gone. :(

it's a dust shield. you can make one out of sheetmetal if you can't find one anywhere.

If the clutch cable dust shield costs more than $20.00 at the Ford dealer I'd be surprised. I'd just get one from there.

I'll have to check it out today when i go to get a tob. I'm hoping thats all it is because taking everything out with my longtubes looks to be a real pain in the ass.

That exact same thing happened to me last summer. Pedal got harder and harder to press down, then just stopped going into gear at all. I had a spec stage III at the time and I was wondering why after less than 15K I needed a new clutch already but it turned out that my TOB was destroyed. The clutch still had 70% disc material left on it. Anyone know what can cause premature breakage of TOB's like this?
