This morning when I was going to work my car started to vibrate when I was stopped at a light. The engine light started blinking and then turned off briefly and then started up again. My motor seems fine but my exhaust sounds like a lawn mower and there is hardly any acceleration, it felt almost as if the timing is off. I think it might be a spark plug. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be?

Last time I had an exhaust leak the service engine light came on, but didn't blink. Does the fact that it's blinking this time meaning anything? However, it does sound like an exhaust leak...

If the light was blinking then you had a missfire, that's what the rest of your disscription sounds like too. Start by checking you spark plugs, spark plug wires. Most of the time that's all it is, just a simple tune up. If you don't find anything there, let us know and we'll help the best that we can.

Thanks! Once I get off work I will check under the hood and make sure everything is proper. If it's not a spark plug wire, I will repost in the day. Thanks again for the help!

Spark Plug (s), Spark Plug Wire Came Off, 02 Sensor, Exhaust leak if you hear it "ticking" away.
First things first, I'd hook up a code reader (free at auto parts store), check for any OBD II logged faults and go from there.
Oh yes! Have them tell you the code numbers. The auto parts stores are notorious for not telling you the actual codes, but what they can sell you to fix the problem.

when the CEL blinks it means something is happening that will damage the cat, or other smog related devises.
so my guess is that your running rich somewhere, a bad plug or wire might cause this, or injector.
but like Michael said get the codes read first, then you can work from there. also if you can get freeze frame data. the ECU will store data at the time the CEL light when off, some times this will help in diag.

Its cylinder#1. Had the compression checked, and it read between 110 and 115, and it has to be at 170 or 175 i think. Also, the spark plug and spark plug wire on 2 are bad, so the pain of rebuilding will be decided. Should I just buy a new block or should it be rebuilt? I dont have the time to rebuilt it myself, becuase of work and school, and i also plan on keeping my baby for as long as i can. So, what should I do? Rebuild or buy a new block?

What was the compression on the rest of the cylinders? As long as they are all within 10% (unless they are all really low) then you're fine. That really doesn't sound too bad.
If you know that the plug and plug wire are bad on #2 cyl then change all of the plugs, and they plug wires and see how it runs. If it runs fine then don't worry about a rebuild (unless you just really, really want to rebuild it).
