An adjustable clutch cable will allow you to lower engagement, but, there will be a great deal of clutch pedal slop after the clutch is fully released. Also, the pedal will still rest in its relatively same position unless the part I installed below is done.
Here's the link to the part:

I have an HPM 3 hook clutch quadrant and adjustable cable, no firewall adjuster.
The most annoying part was the stupid lockout switch (so you have to push in the clutch to start the car) which I had to remove from the very top of the clutch pedal, and then reattach, the reattaching part took me 20 minutes.
Anyway, After installing it, the design is quite simple. But I wish it gave a little more adjustment. I had to tighten the clutch cable alot to allow enough disengagement slack to move the pedal back forwards. I think I still need a little more adjustment (tightening) of the cable quadrant. I seem to catch just a bit during shifting which tells me the clutch may not be fully disengaged.
Of course, by tightening the cable, the clutch pedal gets stiffer so if you do this mod, you will have a stiffer pedal.
This adjustment of the cable also helped with my shuddering problem with the clutch. Bad thing is was that the adjustable nut was stripped by the installer, so very difficult to tighten down, I had to use a pair of heavy duty pliers to keep the threads from moving while I tightened the nut, chewing up the thread piece (not any actual threads). A properly threaded adjustable cable will not have this problem.
The pedal itself is about 1/2" above the brake pedal. Full disengagement of the clutch is at the floor, the clutch doesn't began to engage for movement of the car (slippage) until about 1" from the floor. I have just a little bit of slack (stiff slack) at the top of the pedal. So none of that bouncy pedal stuff.
All in all I'm pleased but I wish MM provided a little better (more detailed) instructions regarding how to adjust the pedal and corresponding how to adjust the clutch cable. I spent all afternoon jacking the car up and down to test each adjustment. A rather big PITA.
I recently drove Lunchbox's GT Mustang and his engagement point of the clutch was rather late, like past the brake pedal itself. He loved mine. I think he's jealous.... :D
