Exhaust sound is a matter of opinion and choice. I have installed 3-4 variations on my car. Flowmaster is louder than Dynamax. Both sound great using stock cats, NO H-pipe, 3" tops, and true dual exhausts. It is hard to get the V-6 droan to go away. With my step though, I have fooled a number of people who think mine sounds like a V-8. It is very deap throated. To get it that way, I have totally rebuilt my exhaust system. I have Mac shorty hedders. They are louder than stock. My headers are ceramic coated, which quieted them down a bit. Then, I added a 2 3/4" exhaust system, high flow cats (Random Technologies), an H-pipe, Flowmaster 40s, and 3" SS tips. I also ceramic coated my exhaust system from the hedders to the mufflers, including the highflow cats, and the V-6 droan is mostly gone!! But, the car is loud and should be with almost 400 RWHP and a ProCharger D1 blower.

Sorry, just don't have a sound clip.

EEEE! my server blocked it! GAY! is that the one about the whistler tips?

well on less psycotic note. what about cutouts? would that help at all? probably a dumb question but i don't know much.

Again, it is a matter of choice. Some like the tips below the bumper. Mine was there initially. I cut out my bumper later and had to modify the exhaust again to raise them up into the cutouts. I responded to a thread and posted an how to on the cutouts sometime this summer. http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=27742

Doubt you will like the sound. I have not tried that but it would be way too loud and will sound like a dirt track sprint car. And, you will get tickets for noise. I have yet to get a ticket for noise and my car is LOUD!!

Our V6 is just not a very good sounding engine. It is best to keep it as quiet as possible. The best sound you can get with this engine would be with long tube headers and either flowmaster or MAC mufflers. Some sort of crossover pipe is necessary to mellow out the sound, preferably a X, but a H will work good enough. Catalytic converters will help to cut out the rasp.

Here's an extensive collection of 4.0 exhaust clips...

http://american-speed.com/collective...read.php?t=670

Here's my own exhaust.... jba headers, jba duals with a custom h-pipe... this was made before the Vortech

http://www.transcendingtouch.com/mustang/mustang3.mp4

Here's the same vid on Streetfire for those can't play mp4's
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/d...dd50bb8592.htm

A few other really good options are Flowmaster, Magnaflows and MRT. GT take-offs also sound really good and are cheap!

To be honest, I don't think you're going to get a great blub blub without a cammed V8.

Yes a cam would help it rumble, at low rpm. Up top it will still sound like a V6.
